AFTER CARE
HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS
1. Keep to your maintenance schedule for your installed method to prevent damage to your natural hair.
2. Only wash your hair 2-3 times a week maximum with sulphate, paraben and alcohol free shampoo.
3. Use a deep conditioner from the ears down every other wash.
4. Before any physical activity (pool, beach, gym, biking, etc.), secure hair well in a braid or under a cap. Make sure to wash hair very well soon after to remove any chemicals, sweat or residue. It is best practice to never leave your hair wet after a workout for any long lengths of time.
5. Keeping your hair extensions brushed from the bottom to mid-shaft and untangled twice a day with a Boar Bristle Brush will guarantee the longevity of the hair.
6. When brushing, secure your hair with the other hand to prevent tension on the roots. Brush well before wetting your hair (always starting with your ends).
7. To wash your extensions wet the hair well, gently apply the shampoo to the root area. Using your fingers, lightly massage between the rows/bonds, separating them well to remove any residue and oils. Rinse out. Do not vigorously scrub your hair as tangling may occur. Apply conditioner from mid-length to the ends. Never condition at the root area.
8. For deeper conditioning, leave the conditioner on for a few extra minutes or use a hydrating treatment once a week.
9.Do not go to sleep with wet hair, as this will cause tangling and knotting. Loosely braid your hair before you go to sleep.
10. After getting out of the shower, let your hair air-dry for about 10 minutes, and apply a heat protecting spray before blow-drying. If possible mostly air-dry the extensions but make sure to thoroughly dry the root/bond area with a blow dryer on medium heat as leaving the bonds, roots wet can cause itching, slipping or matting.
11. For smoother results, run some serum throughout your hair avoiding the bonds.
12. Hard water, excessive heat styling, overuse of purple shampoo and colouring/toning will cause discolouration, drying and breakage of the extensions and shorten their lifespan.
13. Wait at least 48 hours before washing your hair after first getting the extensions installed.
